Mölkky is a Finnish offside invented in 1966. It is based on Kyykkä, an ancient throwing game originating from Karelia.
However, playing Mölkky does not require the physical strength of playing Kyykkä, and is therefore suitable for everyone, regardless of age or physical condition. It comes down to a combination of luck and throwing.
The first player to knock down pawns for 50 points is the winner!

Specifications:
  • Age from: 6+
  • Number of Players: 2+
  • Game time : 30 minutes
  • Made from PEFC-certified wood

Game rules:
The players use a wooden throwing stick (called the Mölkky) to knock down wooden posts. The wooden posts are all approximately the same size, and are numbered 1 to 12. The posts are initially placed upright in a compact arrangement, 3 to 4 meters away from the pitch, with the posts organized as follows: 1st row, 1/ 2; 2nd row, 3/10/4; 3rd row, 5/11/12/6; 4th row, 7/9/8. When knocking over one pole, the number on this pole counts as the number of points scored. When knocking over multiple stakes, the number of overturned stakes counts as the number of points scored. A stake does not count if it rests on the Mölkky or other numbered stakes (it must be flat on the ground to count). After each throw, the stakes are put back up in the place where they landed. The first to score exactly 50 points wins the game. Scoring more than 50 points is penalized by reducing the score to 25. A player is eliminated if he/she does not knock over any of the posts for 3 consecutive throws.
